Although oceans cover 70% of Earth’s surface, not every country has access to the sea. This may explain why the lucky nations that do lay claim to ocean frontage, no matter how small, make productive use of their short shorelines. The following 10 countries couldn’t be more disparate, ranging from tiny islands in the South Pacific to massive African nations, but they do share one defining characteristic — they have the shortest coastlines in the world.
